Virtus.pro claim the top spot at ASUS Summer 2009, as they defeated k23 16-14 on dust2 in the Grand Final.
The Russian team had the upper hand in the Grand Final, as they only needed one map win, while k23 would need two to win overall. The playground to kick it all off on should be dust2. Virtus.pro started as attackers, where strong defense by k23, several times put a great stop to their attacks. The Kazakhstanis could secure a 9-6 score at halftime.
Virtus.pro should then put up strong CT play, helped by a lucky defuse by Denis "diNGo" Kolomenskiy, in a 1v4 situation. k23 took rounds but so did Virtus.pro, which evened the match out several times. Virtus.pro should however secure a win, when taking the 30th round of the match, winning 16-14.
This secure Virtus.pro first place at ASUS Summer 2009, while k23 will have to do with second place. The Russians hereby secure their first win since they topped Arbalet Cup #3 in mid-July. The final standings for ASUS Summer 2009 go as follows.
